Descriere
Lampropeltis triangulum gentilis este un sarpe regal frumos nuantat. Capul variaza de la negru solid, la negru cu un bot alb- baltat, pana la botul complet alb cu pete negre imprastiate. Acest sarpe are intre 20 &
dash; 32 de dungi rosii sau portocalii. Gentilis este, in primul rand, un sarpe de prerie deschisa. Este cel mai des intalnir in zonele cu roci de calcar, dar pot fi vazuti si in gresiile casante ale campiilor inalte. De asemenea, variaza in vaile de la poalele Munților Stancosi din apropierea Denver si Boulder, Colorado. Cei mai multi Gentilis salbatici mananca soparle Eumeces, soparle garduri (Sceloporus) si serpi mici (Sonora, Tantilla, Tropidoclonion).
